Zenkoji Guest Rooms

Zenkoji is a traditional Japanese Buddhist temple built in 1894 and located in the historic and scenic city of Hida-Takayama.

Zenkoji is conveniently located within walking distance from the Takayama train station and the main Takayama sightseeing attractions.

We accept donations to the temple in exchange for accomodation.

We welcome guests from all countries and creeds who wish to learn about Japanese culture and Buddhist traditions. We are a non-profit organization, and our goal is to give guests a chance to learn about Japan. Those who wish to stay in our temple will sleep in Japanese-style rooms with futon and tatami, in an authentic Buddhist temple.

All of our spacious guest rooms include freshly cleaned futon bedding with soft cushions, and most of the rooms are Japanese style with tatami mats.

Many of the rooms overlook our serene Japanese rock garden and koi pond.

There are rooms for almost any size group, and we welcome inquiries from anyone that wishes to experience a few nights in true Japanese style.

All of our rooms have Japanese style futon bedding.

Air-conditioning is available in some rooms, and all rooms are well heated in winter.
